Malaysian actor Bront Palarae has scored a spot in an upcoming adaptation of four-part novel My Stupid Boss.

The popular series by author Chaos@Work attracted the attention of renowned Indonesian director Upi Avianto who will be tasked with adapting the novel for the silver screen.

My Stupid Boss tells the story of an employer and the problems he causes. The story was a hit in its home country of Indonesia, resulting in several prints of the novel in order to meet market demand.

As a screenwriter, producer and director, Upi Avianto has worked on a number of well-known Indonesian films back in the 2000’s and is best known for her rom-coms as well as her noir-influenced thrillers

Upi previously directed 30 Hari Mencari Cinta (2004), Serigala Terakhir (2009) and Belenggu (2013). Her last directorial effort was a film omnibus in collaboration with Indonesian directors Alfani Wiryawan, Rizal Mantovani and Eko Kristianto titled Princess, Bajak Laut dan Alien (2014).

The cast of her adaptation of My Stupid Boss was announced two days ago, which revealed that Indonesian actors Reza Rahadian, Bunga Citra Lestari and Alex Abbad will be joined by Malaysians Anuar Chew, Atikah Suhaime and Bront Palarae on the big screen for the project.

Announcing the news on Instagram, Bront was congratulated by actress Nur Fazura, who will also be seen in an upcoming Indonesian film, namely Rizal Mantovani’s Bulan Terbelah Di Langit Amerika.

My Stupid Boss is currently in pre-production.
