Find of the Day: Odd One Out (Volume 2)
JUST in case you haven’t noticed, the second volume of Odd One Out is here! Months ago, readers of the first volume were left hungry for more — no surprise as this bi-annual magazine pushes the envelope in local magazine-making.
Flipping through these pages, an aura of diligent workmanship radiates through every aspect of Odd One Out. The effort put into the magazine makes every copy feel special, almost as if it were an intimate piece of art.
While its debut issue was printed in Berlin, volume two is 100% Malaysian-made.
Odd One Out stands alone as an invaluable look into people, thanks to its driven team of passionate and curious writers who enjoy venturing into the creative sphere. Its articles celebrate individuality, and challenges the notion of conventional upbringing through its depiction of unique creatives who buck trends in forming their own voice.
Featuring breathtaking photographs, Odd One Out isn’t one of those magazines you “finish reading after 20 minutes”, according to Editor-in-chief, Hamizah Adenan. The articles presented inside these volumes capture the essence of notable people and their fascinating stories.
It must be mentioned that Odd One Out is too much of a pleasure to only exist as a coffee table read — the entire magazine is aesthetically pleasing on top of containing a wealth of information.
In its latest volume, readers can find out more on documentary filmmaker Mahen Bala, The Venopian Solitude‘s , tastemaking librarian Basira Yeusuff, and many other people dedicated to their artforms.
Volume 1 featured designpreneur , Astro Awani news presenter , and contributions from various creatives such as KL-based photographer Daniel Ideris, graphic designer Jun Kit and musician Adam Kasturi.
