Are Guns N’ Roses Getting Back Together?!
Dear Guns N’ Roses fans, do not freak out, but we have some news for you. A reminder not to get your hopes up however as nothing has been confirmed — yet!
Rumor has it that there may be something going on with the band. According to an article in The Guardian, there has been a 15-second clip shown during a screening of Star Wars: The Force Awakens which has sparked rumour of a reunion or a new release!
Why is this big news? Let us break it down for you.
Hard rock band Guns N’ Roses was formed in 1985 with the classic line-up of Axl Rose (lead vocalist), Slash (lead guitarist), Izzy Stradlin (rhythm guitarist), Duff McKagan (bassist) and Steven Adler (drummer). From “Sweet Child O’ Mine” to “November Rain” and “Welcome To The Jungle”, the band made a huge impact on the rock music scene.
Sadly, the original line-up performed for the last time in 1993. Three years later, Slash left the group, leaving a new set of musicians and Axl to carry the band’s legacy. The band’s classic lineup, along with eventual members Reed and drummer Matt Sorum, were inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in 2012, in their first year of eligibility.
Though we love the current line-up, nothing beats the feeling of finding out that Axl and Slash have patched up, and having Izzy, Duff and Adler all on one stage again after 22 years. Now you see why this is sorta big news to Guns N’ Roses fans?
Nevertheless, none of these has been confirmed but there have been other signs that any of these rumours could be true. Here’s the low-down.
What is this “mysterious” video that’s going around?
A black and white footage of crowds going wild while what sounds like “Welcome To The Jungle” is being played live in a concert. Unfortunately, nothing else is shown and there is no further explanation for video.
What’s going on with their website and social media?
On Christmas, the band updated their profile and cover photos on their with a black and white picture of a crowd that seemed fairly similar to the one we saw in the aforementioned video. But it wasn’t only their facebook page that received an update.
Their official website too has undergone what may seem like a website redesign. According to Ultimate Classic Rock, the band has brought back their classic logos, of which trademarks are reportedly co-owned by Slash, Rose and Duff McKagan. But that’s all we know and can speculate for now.
The long overdue patch-up
While recording Sympathy for the Devil in 1994, there was a lot of tension between Slash and Axl, which led to Slash leaving in 1996. Aside from Axl, every member who contributed to Appetite for Destruction had departed from the band.
To summarize it further, nobody was really getting along. Both Slash and Axl were stubborn men, and things blew up into a huge fight. It was just a matter of stepping up to become the bigger man and apologize first — neither need to do so anymore thankfully, as both have apparently put the entire episode behind them.
Slash recently brought up their relationship status too.
So there you have it! In the meantime, we’ve got our fingers crossed, with fragile hope that maybe, just maybe, a reunion might happen and involve new and old members of the group. But if nothing happens, hey, smart move on getting Guns N’ Roses back on the radar.
