Fresh from its collaboration with RTM Orchestra this month, the Malaysian Philharmonic Youth Orchestra continues to celebrate its 10^th anniversary with a collaboration with Orkestra Tradisional Malaysia (OTM).   Themed Konsert Tanah Airku, this partnership is scheduled on Friday, 17 November 2017 and Saturday, 18 November 2017 at 8.30 pm at Dewan Filharmonik PETRONAS (DFP), KLCC.   This will be the orchestras’ second collaboration; the first one was in 2014 in Johor Bahru. Prior to this, the MPYO has also collaborated with Yayasan Warisan Johor, Hong Kong Children’s Symphony Orchestra and Queensland Youth Symphony Orchestra. All collaborations have stretched the MPYO’s virtuosity and versatility to another level. These concerts will affirm the MPYO’s status as an orchestra full of vibrant enthusiasm and energy, having grown by leaps and bounds since its establishment in 2006. With its current 98 members, the MPYO aims to nurture and encourage young musicians in their passion and integrate them into a highly skilled ensemble. In its brief existence, it has showcased its brilliant musicianship all around Malaysia including Sabah and Sarawak, Singapore and Brisbane, Australia. The formation of the OTM is an ongoing effort by Ministry of Tourism & Culture Malaysia through Istana Budaya for reorganizing the traditional musicians as well as allowing traditional Malaysian music to achieve a high professional international standing. It is seen as a key catalyst for the Malaysian music revolution in the 21^st century with its core repertoire comprises music of diverse ethnic races.
