Recently nominated in an Indonesian film awards show, i-Cinema Awards, in the category of Best Supporting Actor for My Stupid Boss, Chew Kin Wah’s success story is an unsung one.
INDONESIAN film recognition initiative i-Cinema Awards has returned for the second year with the nation’s top releases under its belt. The budding awards platform will boast 24 categories this year, split into two segments namely Terbaik and Favorit. Terbaik consists of 19 categories to be presided over by a jury panel while Favorit is determined by public vote.
THIS week has been a great week for Asian films at the local box office. Despite blockbuster film X-Men: Apocalypse dominating the box office over the weekend, raking in an estimated RM4 million in Malaysia after being screened at 137 screens throughout the country.
There simply aren’t enough movies combining local and foreign talents on the screen.
This is a sentiment which surfaces immediately upon absorbing My Stupid Boss, the latest project by award-winning Indonesian director Upi Avianto which pits Indonesian superstars against a Malaysian backdrop, complete with local actors filling in supporting roles.
