‘OlaBola’s positively epic storytelling is made even grander with orchestra!

OlaBola made its mark as one of the most iconic local films last year, but it’s spirit is a long way from dying This Malaysia Day, as we’re all fresh from the patriotic fervor of the SEA Games and the Paralympics still going on, Malaysian Philharmonic Orchestra along with official partner, Astro Shaw, will continue on that zeitgeist of sports and nationalism with ‘Ola Bola – Movie with Live Music’! The showtimes will be on Friday, 15 September 2017 and Saturday, 16 September 2017 at 8.30 pm at Dewan Fiharmonik PETRONAS (DFP).

When Watsons Malaysia dropped Legenda Cun Raya, an ad for the upcoming festivities, I didn’t think much of it though I was intrigued as it was 15 minutes long. It looked expensive so I gave it shot. A few moments into the ad, a woman in a selendang goes into the palace singing so beautifully to see if she is the one the Orang Kaya is dreaming of. She pulls away her shawl to reveal herself to the hero and everyone else at the court. Harum Senandung’s face was painted pitch black and the everyone in the commercial reacted in disgust and shock. ‘Jagat’ and ‘Ola Bola’ selected for the biggest Southeast Asian film festival this December!

WE’VE often seen local films getting more hype internationally! This year alone, Redha and Pekak were brought to Cannes, upcoming movie Interchange premiered in Toronto, and even local Tamil film Maravan came on top at the International Open Film Festival New York & Dhaka (IOFF) in June.
