Two For ‘One Two Jaga’: SAFF Project Market Prizes Go To Upcoming Local Film

by Deric EctDecember 7, 2015

Screen Singapore presented their Southeast Asian Film Financing (SAFF) Project Market Prizes last Saturday at Marina Bay Sands, two of which went to Malaysian film project One Two Jaga.

One Two Jaga, an upcoming film by local production company Pixel Play, took home the RED Digital Cinema Award and the AV8 Award. It was one of ten Southeast Asian films initially selected for the SAFF Project Market’s line-up of projects to receive support from the regional initiative.

As a result, the project earned a RED Digital Cinema Package (worth USD 25,000) as well as a RED Education Course Badge and training vouchers to help develop the project further.

Pixel Play’s thank you message as seen on Facebook.

An upcoming film directed by Nam Ron (Gedebe, Psiko Pencuri Hati) starring Nam Ron himself alongside Sofia Jane, Beto Kusyairy and Zaidi Omar, One Two Jaga first appeared on the blogosphere back in 2014 after a pitch trailer was uploaded on .

The dramatic film revolves around the children’s game “police and thieves” (also known as “cops and robbers”) and tells the story of two law enforcers, Bashir and Syakir, who stumble upon “something slightly out of the ordinary”.

Variety reports that the film has a budget of SGD420,000.

Aside from One, Two, Jaga, only Bhutan/Singapore co-production Happiness Revolution and Laos project The Long Walk boasted multiple awards at the prize-giving ceremony last weekend.

The SAFF Project Market facilitates meetings and interactions between filmmakers and potential collaborators, investors and distributors in order to give film projects a development boost. It was organised by the Southeast Asian Audio-Visual Association (SAAVA), Reed Exhibitions (RX), and the Ties That Bind (TTB) co-production workshop.
