Woah, it has been a great week for our national sports team and we want to congratulate our athletes for taking part in the SEA Games 2017! Now, let’s turn to the local music that will make us all feel like winners with our Tracks of the Week.
1) Terbanglah – Sekumpulan Orang GilaThis melody is pretty in tune with 90’s local love songs; it takes romance in the form of fresh dew on grass, the coming sun and a love that warns the lovers when to stop and when to keep running.
2) FWB – NYKReminiscent of early 2000’s R & B tracks, NYK (Nick Yung Kit) is making a name for himself with FWB and his post-performance at Good Vibes Festival [...]
SCHOOL students sing it daily, and the rest of us? We hear it, once in a while. But none of us really know where Negaraku, Malaysia’s national anthem, was truly conceived.
This week has been a celebration of international music on our shores with DNCE rocking a concert and the Good Vibes Festival bringing globally established indie bands and musicians but, let’s focus our attention closer to home with our list of Tracks of the Week!
Renjana – Noh Salleh (from the re-release of Angin Kencang)It’s smooth and soulful and such an easy listen on a Sunday morning. But, there is also a darkness lingering on this track that deserves several plays to truly immerse ourselves in the lyrics and of course, coming from Noh Salleh; we can never trust his song to be far from emotional.
Inspire Desire – BittersweetEver dance [...]
Some call them post-punk, others, post-hardcore. Some even dub their sound as more “gritty” math rock than anything else. The truth is Killeur Calculateur transcends genres, what with the myriad of influences they hail from. However, the guerilla concerts (see interview below) and the cynical poetry that embellish their hard-hitting riffs and screams ensures that the word ‘punk’ remains to be their rallying anthem.
