When He decrees a matter, He only says to it, "Be," and it is." ​Synopsis We, the duniawi, called Insans, are the travellers as The World is just a temporary stop for an ongoing journey. ‘The Travellers’ sets the audience to experience a glimpse of our whole journey as an Allah’s servant and the khalifah. Through the eye of a little boy, the story follows life’s creation, its growth, and finally, its end. The boy, Hafiz, has been practicing the teaching of the Quran since he was in his mother’s womb and later became a hafiz. Becoming a successful adult later in his life, Hafiz lost his ways and turned away from his religion. After a terrible loss, Hafiz was reminded of the right path and tries to make his way back. A psychological thriller based on Yasutaka Tsutsui's short story - 'Mushiriai' (Plucking at Each Other), The Bee explores the breadth of human behaviour and strength when pushed to the limit, and what happens when ordinary people are placed in extraordinary circumstances, when victims become aggressors and the weak become powerful. This play will be performed in English by a powerful ensemble cast of 7 that include familiar names such as Razif Hashim, Bella Rahim & Jon Chew, and directed by our Artistic Director - Kelvin Wong.

Main Wayang is pleased to present Layang, its latest multimedia theatre performance that thematically explores the nature of migration, displacement, and isolation; both in its physical act and consequent psychological and spiritual implications, through a single performerdriven narrative. It acts as an attempt to communicate stories and contemporary issues affecting the human condition via a language familiar to the artists involved - tools of technology, movement and motion of the human body – to audiences, staged within the sparse yet spirited confines of a warehouse doubling as an up-and-coming arts venue in Kuala Lumpur. The performance is minimal in design and structure, yet also incorporates various theatrical elements such as physical theatre, shadow theatre, visual effects, virtual reality, and electronic soundscapes. By incorporating these diverse set of mediums across the traditional-contemporary divide, a fluid, dynamic performance that explores and engages with both media and movement takes shape. Main Wayang believes strongly in making our performances accessible to the public. In keeping with that belief, the performance will not be ticketed and entrance will be free to create greater accessibility for a diverse set of audiences, and not solely for theatre-going arts enthusiasts. The performance will be staged at Kongsi KL, a large industrial warehouse, where audiences are encouraged to move around the performance area, in a fluid, versatile setup. Our choice of venue is rooted in the fact that as an arts space, Kongsi KL is grounded in a sense of sharing and community, which mirrors our aims and aspirations as a collective. A multimedia theatre show would also create a different experience and diversify the nature of performances held at the venue. Being essentially an empty warehouse with its own history and stories, there are endless possibilities for the performance to act as a disruption or intervention to change the dynamics of the space; both through the setup of the performance – exploring sound, shadows, movement, and projections – and the narrative it presents. Ultimately, theatre is not just a form of art, but also serves as a platform to bring people together, creating a sense of community. A free, public theatre performance further strengthens this quality; by framing the performance within an approachable space, different members of society could come to watch the performance, regardless of social background or level of familiarity with art. This is what we aspire to do -- helping make theatre a shared experience for everyone.
